Scott M. Flaherty Appointed to Minneapolis Civil Rights Commission

Scott M. Flaherty, an attorney in the
Minneapolis office of the national law firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P., has been appointed by the Mayor and the City Council to a three-year term on the Minneapolis Civil Rights Commission.
According to its web site, the Commission, which was established in 1975, implements the City's Civil Rights policies through public information, education, mediation, conciliation and enforcement as stated in the Minneapolis Code of Ordinances. The primary objective of the Commission is to promote and protect the civil rights of the citizens of Minneapolis. Commissioners serve on administrative hearing panels to decide discrimination cases investigated by the Department of Civil Rights. Commission orders may be appealed to the State Court of Appeals.
Mr. Flaherty focuses his practice in the areas of intellectual property litigation and licensing and antitrust and trade regulation. He is a member of the Minnesota Lavender Bar Association and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Flaherty received his J.D., with distinction from The University of Iowa College of Law (2007), and earned his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, magna cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis (2004).
