What do they do?

  • Science Advisors use their science and technology experience to work with inventors, experts and clients.
  • Science Advisors work with the attorneys to present complex issues in a manner that is easily understood by non-scientists, including the judge and jury.
  • Science Advisors help perform the initial investigation and analysis of a patent case.
  • They perform patent validity searches and research infringement.
  • In the discovery phase of the case, Science Advisors assist in identifying the types of technical documents to be requested, including information stored electronically.
  • Science Advisors assist in reviewing the records produced to identify the key technical issues and documents.
  • They assist attorneys with deposition preparation and often attend the depositions to be of assistance on technical matters.
