Richard Zabel Appointed to MNCPA Leadership Cabinet

MINNEAPOLIS (May 4, 2009) - Richard Zabel, Manager of the Forensic Financial and Economic Consultants group at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P., has been selected for a three year appointment in the MNCPA Leadership Cabinet.
According to the MNCPA, the function of the Leadership Cabinet is to provide the following functions: support and promote the MNCPA initiatives and the CPA profession; advise the Society regarding strategic direction and emerging issues; receive and review information on current issues and keep abreast of developments; communicate and support initiatives adopted by the Board; and advocate for the CPA designation.
The Cabinet consists of 50 members, comprised of CPAs from public accounting, industry, government, and academe. Each year 15 new members are selected from CPAs throughout Minnesota.
Mr. Zabel was nominated for the appointment and then selected based on the following criteria: demonstrated communication and leadership skills; strategic and critical thinking skills; focus on the members of the MNCPA; able to interpret converging information; and knowledge and understanding of issues facing CPAs.
Mr. Zabel is a certified public accountant with more than 20 years of experience. In his role as the firm's forensic accountant, he has conducted strategic assessments of numerous economic and financial issues, assisted in developing new cases and clients, and developed the Forensic Financial and Economic Consultants group. Prior to joining the firm, he had testified in federal and state courts as an expert in financial and economic matters.
