Michael Geibelson Elected Board President of the Disability Rights Legal Center

Geibelson, a partner in the Los Angeles office of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P., has been elected president of the Board of Directors of the Disability Rights Legal Center, a non-profit legal services agency which has been promoting the rights of people with disabilities and the public interest in and awareness of those rights by providing legal and related services for over three decades.  In addition to the Center’s Civil Rights Litigation Project which handles high-impact disability rights cases, the DRLC’s Education Advocacy Project teaches parents and guardians to advocate for their children’s educational rights, and represents them in administrative hearings.  The DRLC’s Cancer Legal Resource Center, now in its 10th year, provides legal counseling and referrals to individuals and families faced with a cancer diagnosis.

Geibelson represents companies and individuals in complex business litigation matters. He also has won several awards in recognition of his pro bono efforts, including the Firm’s annual pro bono award in 2006, Public Interest Law Foundation Pro Bono Award in 2005, and the Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services presented by the Board of Governors of the State Bar of California in 2004 and 2006.
